The BIG Sleep Transition

Tillman has had a lot of changes in his night time / nap routine.  Not only has he transitioned to from downstairs to now upstairs, but he has transitioned from the Moses basket to his crib!  Way to go, Tillman!

Tillman was quickly approaching the max out point of the Moses basket (his head was touching the top and his legs were scrunching up at the bottom) we noticed last week.  Nick tried him upstairs for one of his naps, and of course, he did fine.  Friday night was his first night in his crib, and Saturday night he slept from 7P-7A!  The news gets even better, last night I put him down in his crib, and he just kicked around and played for at least 30 minutes before going to bed.  He seems to really like it.

We've certainly set up a true night time scene for him in his room--3 night lights and a sound machine on rain.  Who wouldn't sleep good like that?

With this big transition, I've set up the video monitor.  I've gone this long without a monitor because he was right outside our room each night, so I could hear him if he was up.  With being upstairs, I knew I'd want to keep my eye on the little guy.  I love to watch him on the monitor.  Of course, I make sure he is breathing, but we've also had a fun time watching him rotating his body a full 180 degrees through the night.  We lay him at the top of the crib, then he turns his body to have his head and feet touch the bumper, and then through the night, he continues to rotate.  This morning we picked him up out of his crib with his feet at the head of the crib.

I think he really enjoys the extra room in the crib!

Tillman's 3 month abode

Master Tillman will be in a bassinet his first few months.  This is another "hand-me-down" from my friend, Jennifer, and her little girl, Susannah.  Tillman will be the third child to lay his head down in this precious thing.  Tillman's CiCi toned down the girly bows and frills on the bassinet for Tillman's "manhood."  She stitched brown trim (easy to remove...of course) at the bottom to cover the pink and put a green and brown sash around the top to match our master bedroom.

We are thinking he will stay in our room for 3 months (on my side of the bed...Nick has made that clear :-).  This will avoid going up and down the stairs at night and offer the whole house a slower transition.  This was our plan to begin with, but now it is our only plan.  For those of you wondering about the nursery, well, there is no nursery yet.  As some of you know, I've had some furniture "drama."  We still don't have his crib or night stand for his room.  Some of the furniture was damaged in shipment, so they had to reorder.  We should already have all the pieces.

Am I nervous about that?  Not really.  I'm more concerned about the rocker/glider we ordered that isn't in yet either.  I am sure going to need that before the other furniture.

Tillman's Furniture

At the beginning of June, we ordered Tillman's furniture.  It takes anywhere from 6 to12 weeks to get in the furniture, so time was of the essence when ordered.  My Mom and Dad ("Cici" and "Jrs") bought Tillman's furniture.  We selected the Young America series, Harbor Town, in rustic antique cherry.   This set came with a convertible crib, so it will grow with him through the year.  It converts to a toddler bed, a daybed, and then to a double bed.

We selected two other piece to go with the crib-the night stand and chest of drawers.  I decided against a dresser/changing table.  Personally, I just didn't think we'd get the use out of it to make it worth it.  To me, a dress seems like a rather feminine piece of furniture, so we went with the chest of drawers.
