Tillman Alexander

It's a boy!!  This is the money shot!

He looks like he is blowing bubbles, but that is the umbilical cord!

Looks a bit strange, but they say it is normal since Tillman doesn't have any fat yet!

Video to come of the ultrasound!  The anatomy scan went very well.  Everything is normal, and we are so thankful for that!!

So Sleepy....

Not sure if being overly excited about the tomorrow's anatomy scan has worn me out or if our little one is zapping my energy with a growth spurt, but I went to bed at 7:30 last night.

I could have gone to bed much sooner, but Nick and I ran some errands last night.  I thought that I was fine to go, but on the way to Lowe's, I was pretty much was asleep, and when in Lowe's, I was walking around the place like a zombie!  Nick finally let me stay with the cart...parked, and he did the running around the store!  I must say, he was rather patient with me!!

When we got home, I was pretty much was negotiating my way out of dinner.  I was going to sit at the table at least but gave up!  I got my bath (pretty much was asleep) and went straight to bed.  On a normal night, I usually take a 30 minute bath, so you know I am tired when I get out of the bath before the water got cold!

I felt like a little kid because Nick came in the room and told me good night ("tucked me in") and turned out the lights just like my parents used to do!

19 Weeks

I received my weekly update from babycenter.com Tuesday right after I had written the post, "Tight Tummy!" When I saw the opening picture, I thought, no wonder I feel this way! Look at this poor child! It looks like it is in training to be a future contortionist! This baby needs some room!

Here's what babycenter.com had to say about our little one this week.
"Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid."

Tight Tummy!

Yesterday, I just could not get full.  By lunch time, I had eaten everything I had brought for the day!  Since I had a late light meeting, I knew I had to get something extra to eat, so I opted for soup and a biscuit.  After eating that, I had a sever case of "Tight Tummy" (as I call it).

Man, I have heard of women talking about their baby growing (thus stretching their belly and skin), and they say their skin feels like it is going to rip.  I wasn't sure how that was going to feel.  Yesterday, I think I got a taste.

My tummy felt extremely hard and my skin was super tight.  The worst position for me was to sit down.  Standing or laying down (positions to stretch out the tummy and give it some room) felt the most comfortable.

Of course, being me, I analysed the situation (to death).  I wonder if I misunderstood the "desire" for "hunger pains." I have been drinking water regularly, so I am just unsure if food was really what I needed.
OR, was I hungry, but it is coming that time where my stomach is cramped and has less room, and I can't eat as much.  If that is the case, then should I eat smaller but more calorie dense foods?

My menu yesterday
-Two Eggos (Breakfast, 6:30 AM)
-Snack Bag of Rice Cakes (7:30AM)
-Banana (9:00 AM)
-Banana (11:30 AM)
-Cup of Soup and Biscuit (12:30 PM)
*TIGHT TUMMY SET IN!*
-Pork Chop, Mac & Cheese (Dinner, 7:30 PM)
*TIGHT TUMMY STILL HERE, but HUNGRY!*
-I might have had 1 2 3 4 powdered donuts for an evening snack (I  know what you are thinking....give me a break people!)

"You ain't havin' no baby...are you?"

Well, this week people have started directly asking me if I am having a baby (I guess that is better than wondering or whisper about it to others!).  It is the most random people too!  What has been really great is the people always say what a blessing it is, and they often tell me about their pregnancy and children.

I have had a few people touch my "belly" and even one person kiss it!

How the conversation usually starts....

"You ain't havin' no baby...are you?"  I reply "yes! Due in September."  "Well you know; I've been wanting to ask for a while, but with you being all petite and all, you can really tell!"

"I would like to ask you something."  (pull me aside in a whisper voice..totally "sketched out" at this point).  "In my country it is a blessing to be pregnant, are you have a baby?"  My reply "Yes, due in September!" (secretly relieved she didn't ask anything else that would be overly  personal.)  "Oh that is so nice, I've been wondering, but in this country women get offended easily by that question, but I think it is just wonderful!"  Honestly, she is right.  If you aren't pregnant and packing on the lbs, it is not a great question to ask of someone.  I don't mind it now that I am pregnant, but could only imagine my reaction if I weren't.  That would send me straight to Weight Watcher and into a total "tail spin!"

"Is that beer or is that a baby?" (A man asked me this...of course). Nick looked at the guy like he was crazy (and really brave). I "pissedly" giggled and said "It's a baby."  This comment has to be one of the rudest so far!  I almost wish I could have said I wasn't pregnant just to get that guy's goat!

Warning: Be careful what you say to pregnant ladies!!!

Save the Date! May 20th

I would like invite all Mrs. Pregnant in the Lowcountry and SoirĂ©es & Shenanigans readers to a private shopping party at Colleton's Fine Clothing!  I have spoke of Colleton's on both blogs (Here and Here).
Please save the date for May 20th around 6PM (This is a Thursday).

Colleton's is located at 248 E Washington Street in downtown Walterboro.  Walterboro is 45 minutes away from Charleston and 30 minutes (I think) from Beaufort and Summerville.
Let me know if you are interested in coming by commenting.  We already have 4 5 in our group for the event.   Also, feel free to invite others. Food and drinks are provided with the party. I also have seen that 20% off is available, but I want to double check on that!!

Here are some other cute things she has in the shop now!
